The Summit: Ski Mountaineering Camp

Big mountains, remote wilds, and certified guides to show you how.

Meet at

Uinta trailhead

Nearest airport

Salt Lake City (SLC)

Season

April 16–19, 2026

Best for

~20 days of backcountry skiing under your belt (intro group)

This isn't a yurt trip skiing slopes that get skied regularly, and you can't see city lights from these summits. This is the Uintas, where big, remote descents rarely — if ever — get skied and the summit view is a sea of peaks as far as you can see.

Four days and three nights are about becoming the ski mountaineer you want to be: someone who can climb a big peak and ski back down it. From reading a spring snowpack to moving safely on steep slopes and using ropes, your guides walk you through the skills to take on big descents with confidence.

From the trailhead you know it's the real deal: you load and drive your own snowmobile deep into the range with your guides leading the way, to a fully styled basecamp with mountaineering tents, a heated kitchen tent, solar power, and a chef preparing every meal. You bring your personal gear. Everything else is handled.

You'll learn how to judge whether the snow is stable enough for ski mountaineering, steep skiing technique and mindset, climbing with an ice axe and crampons (metal spikes for your boots), self-arrest (stopping a slide with your ice axe), basic rope work, and ski anchors.
