FAQ

What does a typical day look like?

Most days start at 8 a.m. and go till 4 p.m. Participants can expect to have some hands-on learning in the field based on their desired objectives (i.e beacon skills practice, route finding, trip planning).

What experience do the educators have?

Our guide/ instructor team are Level 3 certified avalanche practitioners and AIARE Level 2 certified Instructors. Along with being full time guides they are current AIARE avalanche educators.

What do I need to bring?

Avalanche rescue gear, snow study kit, and any mountaineering gear if that is part of your desired learning objective. Guides/ Instructor team will go over your list with you before the first day.

Are there any prerequisites for this course?

Since this is not a certification program there are no prerequisites. Your guide/Instructor team may recommend you do some reading or training prior.

Is there an option to do a 1-day course?

Yes, but the idea is to create a progression for clients so they get the most out of our time together.

Will this replace the need to take an avalanche course?

No. This is not intended to be a stand-in for avalanche education rather a way to further your skills or help introduce you to new skills that go beyond the scope of what can be covered in a course. We work along side avalanche course providers and are happy to help you sign up for a certified avalanche course before or after our time together.

Is transportation provided?

Yes, we provide a door to door experience for those within the Park City limits. Our guides want to get to know you and this gives us a chance to learn more about you!
