Western Uinta Hut System
Welcome to the Western Uinta Hut System—a new network of backcountry yurts designed to provide adventurers with unparalleled access to the beauty and rugged wilderness of Utah’s Uinta Mountains. Inspired Summit Adventures is excited to announce the second yurt in this growing system at Smith and Morehouse Reservoir, following the success of our beloved Castle Peak Yurt.

By the fall of 2026 the system will be complete with five strategically placed yurts that will allow for multi-day, hut-to-hut adventures. Whether you're skiing through pristine powder in winter or hiking, biking, and paddle boarding in the summer, these yurts offer an unforgettable experience in the heart of the wilderness.

Each yurt is thoughtfully positioned to showcase the unique beauty of the Western Uintas, providing a comfortable basecamp for exploring high alpine lakes, vast forests, and dramatic ridgelines. Fully equipped for guided or self-guided trips, our yurt system is the perfect combination of adventure, comfort, and sustainability.
Whether you're looking for a single overnight trip or a multi-day journey connecting multiple huts, the Western Uinta Hut System will be your gateway to adventure.
Fully supported and guided hut to hut experiences available this season!
The Yurts
Yurt? Isn't that some sort of tent from Mongolia????
Yes, technically a yurt is a portable, round tent covered in some sort of fabric or animal hide, and traditionally they have been used by nomadic cultures or groups in the steppes of Central Asia for shelter. But, here at Inspired Summit we believe a yurt is so much more. We believe a yurt is a gathering space for families and friends to share adventures, laughs and stories. We believe a yurt brings us closer to the ones we share it with, and to the environment in which it exists. We believe a yurt builds bonds, and memories that last a lifetime.

Inspired Summit Adventures is proud to be the owner and steward of all of the yurts that make up The Western Uinta Hut System high in the Western Uinta Mountains of Utah. We take this role seriously and aim to continue the legacy of the Castle Peak Yurt, and the yurt experience in the Uinta Mountains going strong for generations to come.
